Classified Ad Questions

Q: Can I submit my classified to more than one Classified Site?
A: Yes — sites are independent so they have no interaction with each other with respect to an individual’s ads.  Post in as many sites as you can find locally. After all, it’s FREE.

Q: Can I submit the same ad to different cities in the same ad site?
A: It depends on the site. While some sites have no problem with you posting in more than one city, some don't allow it. You can use different words in the title and body to get around these restrictions sometimes, but you take a chance on getting flagged for deletion if they catch you.

Q: How do I prevent the spammers from loading me up with email?
A: Good question. If you are advertising your stuff, it will be difficult to block spam as you run the risk of blocking the person who is willing to pay you for your stuff. More Than Classifieds will take you by the hand and show you how to set up a FREE temporary email to place in your ad. Then, when you are finished selling the item, you can delete it and no more spam.

Q: I am not comfortable putting my telephone number on the Internet. Can I get around this and still get phone calls?
A: Yes — there are way to get temporary phone numbers just like the temporary email. More Than Classifieds can lead you through the steps to get a FREE phone number and have it deleted after your item is sold.

Q: If I have both a temporary email and phone number do I need extra equipment? Do I have to check another email in box?
A: No — you use your current phone and your current in box for all the calls and emails. More Than Classifieds will lead you through a very streamlined and efficient method to keep things simple.

Q: What can I do with my MiniSite after my item is sold?
A: Anything you want (as long as it is legal). Sell more stuff, post family photos, Blog, turn it into a personal info site. Just imagine the uses. 

Q: What level of knowledge do I need to publish a MiniSite?
A: If you posted a classified ad, you have done most of what you need to publish a MiniSite. Beginner to Intermediate Internet users usually have the required skills to do everything on their own. And REMEMBER, with More Than Classifieds you don't have to do it alone!

Q: What is the difference between a web site and web pages?
 A: Web sites are a group of web pages. Web pages are components on your web space with their own unique web address. A "page" is like a page in a book, while a "site" is like the entire book; every page belongs to a site, and a site can contain as many pages as you'd like. A MiniSite ususally has between 3 and 5 pages dedicated to featuring your stuff.

Q: Will my MiniSite be listed in the search engines?
A: The goal of your MiniSite is not to be number one on the search engines. However there is a good chance it will get indexed and if someone searches for a specific item matching your title, description or keywords, they may find your ad that way. 95% of your traffic will come from your classified ads, so post your ad in as many sites as possible.

Q: How long will it take me to build and publish a MiniSite?
A: If you prepare all your photos and words ahead of building your site, you can cut and paste into your site and be up in running in an hour to two. However, the first time you use More Than Classifieds (and considering you may change your mind about the template or format a few times) we can help you to publish your first MiniSite in about a day. Once you are finished, if there is something you don't like, you can go back and change it at any time.

Q: If we give you the photos and words will you publish it for us?
A: Sure we can help. For about $50-$100 (depending on the content) we will do it all for you. BUT that is not our objective — and we hope you take up the challenge to Do-It-Yourself.

Q: Can we build full web sites using the guide?
A: Not really. The More Than Classifieds guide is not intended to take you past publishing a few pages that are free or very low-cost. We can suggest other resources to help you do that if having a web site or even running a web business is your goal.
